Public Debt of the Republic of Belarus as of May 1, 2021
As of May 1, 2021 public debt amounted to 58.1 billion rubles and increased by 0.3 billion rubles or 0.5% from the beginning of the 2021.
External public debt amounted to 18.1 billion USD as of May 1, 2021 and decreased by 0.5 billion USD or 2.5% from the beginning of the year (taking into account exchange rate differences).
In January-April 2021 external public debt disbursements were made in the amount of 183.0 million USD in equivalent of which:
- 123.2 million USD – Russian government loan;
- 49.6 million USD – International Bank for Reconstruction and Development loans;
- 8.3 million USD – Export-Import Bank of China loans;
- 1.9 million USD – European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Nordic Investment Bank loans.
External debt redemption in January-April 2021 totaled 637.9 million USD of which:
- 272.7 million USD – Russian government and banks loans;
- 189.9 million USD – Export-Import Bank of China loans;
- 112.1 million USD – Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development loans;
- 59.3 million USD – International Bank for Reconstruction and Development loans;
- 3.2 million USD – European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Nordic Investment Bank loans;
- 0.7 million USD – USA Commodity Credit Corporation loans.
Domestic public debt amounted to 11.7 billion rubles as of May 1, 2021 and increased by 1.8 billion rubles or 18.2% from the beginning of the year (taking into account exchange rate differences).
Placement of domestic foreign currency and local currency government bonds for legal entities and individuals amounted to 726.7 million USD in equivalent and 137.0 million rubles in January-April 2021. Redemption of foreign currency and local currency government bonds for legal entities and individuals amounted to 3.0 million USD and 92.2 million rubles.
