Public Debt of the Republic of Belarus as of January 1, 2020
As of January 1, 2020 public debt amounted to 44.8 billion rubles and decreased by 0.6 billion rubles or 1.3% from the beginning of the 2019.
External public debt amounted to 17.1 billion USD as of January 1, 2020 and increased by 0.2 billion USD or 1.4% from the beginning of the year (taking into account exchange rate differences).
In 2019 external public debt disbursements were made in the amount of 1 643.6 million USD in equivalent of which:
- 730.2 million USD – Russian government and banks loans;
- 638.1 million USD – Banks of China loans;
- 150.5 million USD – Bonds on external financial markets;
- 94.2 million USD – International Bank for Reconstruction and Development loans;
- 30.6 million USD – European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Nordic Investment Bank loans.
External debt redemption in 2019 totaled 1 511.3 million USD of which:
- 625.8 million USD – Russian government loans;
- 448.4 million USD – Banks of China loans;
- 353.1 million USD – Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development loans;
- 78.6 million USD – International Bank for Reconstruction and Development loans;
- 3.7 million USD – USA Commodity Credit Corporation loans;
- 1.7 million USD – European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Nordic Investment Bank loans.
Domestic public debt amounted to 8.8 billion rubles as of January 1, 2020 and decreased by 0.1 billion rubles or 1.5% from the beginning of the year (taking into account exchange rate differences).
Placement of domestic foreign currency government bonds for legal entities and individuals amounted to 771.2 million USD in equivalent in 2019. Redemption of foreign currency and local currency government bonds for legal entities and individuals amounted to 604.3 million USD and 227.2 million rubles in equivalent.
